Peek-A-Boo. I see you. One of the first games we teach them. When they are just tiny babies, we cover their eyes with our hand or a blanket and pull them away saying, "Peek-A-Boo! I see you!" The baby giggles or looks surprised as if to say, "Your back! Where did you go?" She continues to grow and plays the game wherever she goes. Peeking around doors and shoulders, curtains and pantlegs. Sometimes she replicates the game she learned as an infant causing you to giggle. Other times she's simulating the act of disappearing...cover the eyes and the world disappears.
Sometimes she hides completely. She has learned the game so well that she no longer simply covers her eyes, but rather herself...totally. Her muffled giggle the only thing giving her away.
If someone doesn't come soon, she'll peek out and make sure someone is there...someone cares to uncover her. To see her once again.
Her eyes revealing her openness. Her willing desire to be found. Her comfort in knowing you are always there.
Giving her the security to hide again.
Hiding in God's love as I live, love, and laugh,
Lori
